Starship Overview

The Goal:

The Goal of The Flying Starship® is to provide a safe, enjoyable and high impact simulation for participants to experience the dramatic difference between a traditional and a high performance workplace. The worksheets we provide and the debriefings guided by the facilitator help participants identify the principles of creating high performance organizations and plan ways of applying their learnings back into the workplace.

The Flying Starship has been specifically designed for applicability to both the manufacturing and service sectors. Managers and employees at all levels have found this simulation relevant to their work lives and helpful in making the transition from traditional to a high performance workplace.

Focus and Clarity: The Flying Starship simulation replicates the fundamental dynamics of most work systems. Participants can experience and understand these more clearly in a time limited, intense activity that stimulates group learning without the distractions encountered in the normal work.

Action - Oriented: The simulation involves participants with an active, "hands on" engaging learning environment. Because of the immersion in an actual work system, adults are given the freedom to "role play" where they might not otherwise be involved.

Relevance: The core learning outcomes from this experience have been found to be highly accessible and universally relevant for all types of work and work systems. Participants have little difficulty making the internal connections from the meaning of this experience in their own work and behavior.

Accessibility: All races, genders, cognitive abilities and cultural differences benefit from the types of learnings that occur in the Starship workshop.
